I am deeply honored to have been given the chance to be a part of the Achieve Virtual Learning Academy. This program gives many options and opportunities for students to reach their educational goals. It is exciting to be teaching Introduction to Business and Preparing for College and Careers in a virtual education environment. To give you information regarding my background, I graduated from Marian University with a Master of Arts in teaching (2010), and earned a Certificate in Leadership Studies from Purdue University. Currently, I hold teaching certifications in Business, Special Education, and a Building Level Administrator License. I currently teach at Ben Davis High School during the day. The Achieve Virtual staff all share a common goal and that is the successful education of our students in a safe and caring environment. With that end in mind there is nothing we can’t accomplish together.
Susan Baughman grew up in Franklin Township and graduated from Franklin Central in 1985. She went to college part time at the University of Indianapolis while she worked full time for Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 13 years. She graduated in 1998 from U of I with a BS in Business Education and taught three years at Whiteland High School and one year at Bloomington North High School. Ms. Baughman obtained her Vocational Teaching license and her MAE in Business Education from Ball State University in 2012. She is currently teaching at the Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center.
Deborah (Debbie) Diss
Deborah (Debbie) Diss is a Principles of Marketing educator for Virtual Education. She is also a business teacher for Ben Davis High school and has been there for ten years. She started her teaching career at IPS Arlington High School where she taught five years. After that, her family relocated to Texas where she worked for four years at Bryan High School. Her family relocated yet again to Tampa, Florida, where she worked for Hillsborough County schools. Two years of her time there were as a Business Teacher and Business Department Chair at Chamberlain High School. For the last three years, she worked in marketing for the Career and Technical Education Department for the Hillsborough County school district.
Debbie received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the University of Indianapolis and her Master’s degree in Education Leadership from Texas A&M University. She has been teaching for 24 years and loves her job!
Debbie is married to Brian, and they have three grown children. She enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with friends and family, mentoring a small group of young women in her church, and singing in her church choir.
David Wilson is currently a Business teacher at the Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center. He is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis. He has a love of tennis which he instilled in his two daughters who both played tennis at the collegiate level. Previous coaching experience in other sports includes Girl’s AAU Basketball. As a former graduate of Ben Davis High School, he has also been a lifelong resident of Wayne Township.
Mrs. Amy Redman
Amy Redman is a 2008 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education. She has spent her educational career teaching a variety of FACS courses, including Nutrition & Wellness, Fashion & Textiles, Child Development, Housing & Interior Design, Adult Roles & Responsibilities, and Interpersonal Relationships, at a small high school in southern Indiana. She and her husband are raising their two young boys on the family beef cattle farm. Amy gives back to her community by serving on the local scholarship foundation board of directors and acting as a member of her county’s 4-H Council. Her other hobbies include reading, sewing, cooking, gardening, and riding horses.
