AP Calculus AB

AP Calculus AB Course Description:

Length/Credits: 2 semesters – 2 credits
Open to: Grades 11, 12
Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus 1H-2H or Pre-Calculus 1-2 with teacher recommendation (Students are required to purchase a graphing calculator for this course.)

This course reviews all the material on analytic geometry, as well as the basics of differential and integral calculus for functions of one variable.

Topics include inequalities, absolute value, functions, limits, infinite series, and differential equations. Also, differentiation and integration of the algebraic functions, the trigonometric functions, the inverse trigonometric functions, the natural logarithm, and exponential functions are studied.

Problem sets are extensive with many applications. All require knowledge of calculus and all the prerequisite mathematics. Students will be prepared to take the College Board Advanced Placement test Calculus AB. All students are expected to take the AP exam.
