The Help Offered by Achieve Virtual

Each course that Achieve Virtual offers is taught by a quality licensed faculty member. Though a student is receiving a virtual education, the course and the teacher behind it are very much real in all aspects. This makes it easy for students to access help with anything that may arise.

Whether it’s a question about a lesson, or confusion about a homework problem, Achieve Virtual’s teachers are there to offer help to all their students. Students can easily call or email their teacher if they need help with any of their work. For problems that don’t directly pertain to a course, students or parents can contact our office to troubleshoot the problem.

Just like a traditional school, we have our own school counselor at Achieve Virtual. Our counselor can be contacted at any point to help students find a path that first meets their needs after graduation. Students and parents are also encouraged to contact our principal with any questions or concerns. We’re here to help with whatever is needed because our goal is to see each of our students achieve what we know they are capable of.

Problems Students May Face and Their Solutions

Just like with any traditional schooling, there are going to be problems that arise that need to be addressed in order to keep a student on track. Certain problems may be more easily fixed than others. The following are a few problems that an online school student may face that are in need of help:

  • Distracted: The reality of a virtual education is that the student is no longer stuck within four walls, forced to work in a specific place during a specific period of time. This means that there are far more distractions than ideal. Due to distractions, time management can be affected and overall ability to stay serious about the education. When this happens, the student can seek help from their family or support system. The student can try and find a workspace that is quiet and distraction-free if possible. Creating a schedule and sticking to it can help tremendously, but the student’s family or support system must help keep the student accountable.
  • Lack of motivation: Finding the motivation to start work can be harder when the structure of a traditional school is not there. Students can seek help with their family or their instructors to help with this lack of motivation. The instructors can help to readjust the student’s schedule to help reset their goals. Refocusing on the goal set can help recreate the momentum that may have been lost which caused the lack of motivation.
  • Technical issues: Technical issues are inevitable when working on a virtual education. A computer can stop working or the WIFI can become spotty, and there isn’t much anyone can do about it. The most important thing to do when this happens is to keep in touch with instructors to keep them informed. At Achieve Virtual, our instructors are understanding and know that there are some things out of our control. We can work with you to help you with whatever you’ve missed due to these technical issues.
  • Feeling left behind: The feeling of being left behind can be disheartening. Through a virtual learning environment, it can sometimes be more difficult for a teacher to notice a student is struggling or to adjust the pace for a certain student in general. Reaching out to instructors can be super helpful to help understand something that a student may not be grasping fully. A student can raise concerns when they begin feeling like they are being left behind.
  • Lack of social engagement: This won’t come as a surprise as it’s obvious that there are fewer social engagements with a virtual education than a traditional education. While it can get frustrating to feel so distant from other students and people, there are ways to solve this challenge. By keeping an open line of communication with instructors, students can always feel comfortable reaching out to them to keep that social engagement thriving. Students can also reach out to instructors to organize webinars or group work to continually foster personal interaction within the online school community.

Knowing When to Get Help

One of the greatest things about a student getting an online education is the ability to create a curriculum that surrounds each individual student’s goals and needs. However, something that comes along with the flexibility of a virtual education is the need for a student to gain the ability to know when to get help. A student that is not proactive cannot thrive as well in a virtual education setting as one who is.

One of the most important things that a student must learn while gaining an education online is how to determine when something is too much for them. Whether this is their course load or just one test, an online student has a responsibility to themselves and their educators to ask for help when needed.

Getting help is not something to be embarrassed about or something to shy away from. At Achieve Virtual, we pride ourselves on our ability to help a child achieve everything they possibly can. That is why we encourage our students to reach out to faculty or our counselor to get any help they need.

We also encourage our faculty to nurture individual relationships with their students so that each student feels comfortable enough to communicate any concerns or questions with their teacher. At Achieve Virtual, students can gain the confidence they need to achieve their goals as we provide a program that gives each student what they need to achieve them. Programs can be adjusted to work better with a student to ensure they’re getting the most out of their virtual education.
