Achieve Virtual Education Academy individualizes and personalizes high school. It provides a different pathway to a high school diploma. We offer students an affordable option to accelerate learning, recover lost credits or earn a complete Indiana Core 40/Academic Honors Diploma.
Achieve Virtual is Indiana’s only online high school from an Indiana public school district. It is operated by the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township in Indianapolis and is backed by the district’s rich academic history and 12 years of online learning experience.
Achieve Virtual has a curriculum aligned with Indiana Department of Education Standards and created and facilitated by certified Indiana teachers. In addition, Achieve is officially approved by the NCAA and is a member of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL).
Achieve Virtual Education Academy:
Provides an inexpensive way to provide single classes for a small group of students when you do not have faculty members properly licensed to teach a specific course.
Provides AP course work to exceptional students when it is either not economically or structurally possible to offer these courses at your school.
Provides opportunities for students who are credit deficient to get back on track to graduate.
Provides an inexpensive way to provide courses for homebound students.
The Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township in Indianapolis started the Indiana Online Academy in 1999, the first online school in Indiana. It soon became apparent virtual education could benefit students from all over Indiana. The Indiana Online Academy expanded and was geared for students who needed to earn additional credits for any one of a variety of reasons. It was also used for credit recovery.
We became successful because of the high quality of our teachers and our curriculum. Teachers were required to have weekly contact with the students to ensure success.
After the success of Indiana Online Academy, the district’s night school and alternative school launched online credit recovery. This is a blended environment of virtual education and direct teacher interaction, with teachers guiding students through the online curriculum in a computer lab, allowing the teachers to work one-on-one with each student. The success was overwhelming. Students who previously felt they would never graduate were finding success. We later launched an online hybrid learning lab at our Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center. Students in our district earn approximately 4,500 credits each year through virtual education.
We applied this experience – and our students’ great track record of success – to create Achieve Virtual Education Academy.
